About Theodore's

THEODORE'S BOOKS is a small independent bookstore in the heart of Oyster Bay, Long Island owned by former Congressman Steve Israel. Our mission is to create a warm and friendly place to browse and purchase books -- from classic literature to the hottest bestsellers, from history to children's titles. We feature an attractive selection of gifts and accessories for book aficionados including greeting cards, journals, puzzles, and more!

Theodore's is a dedicated community partner, a destination experience for our customers, and host to author events with a-list celebrities, political figures, renowned authors, as well as local and self published up-and-coming writers.

WHY THEODORE'S?

Our home is Oyster Bay – a historic, waterfront hamlet on Long Island’s Gold Coast. It’s a destination for visitors to the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, where Theodore Roosevelt lived, worked, and died. It contains well-known Revolutionary War sites including the Raynham Hall Museum (a key part of Washington’s spy network). And,  it is a lively scene for restaurants, bars,  boating, and family activities.

Theodore’s Books is owned by former Congressman Steve Israel, who decided to “turn the page” from a career in politics and find a place where there’s no screaming, lobbying, or finger-pointing (unless it’s the tip of your finger against a line in a book you love).
